VOLUNTEER CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON    12th December 2024

A wonderful opportunity for volunteers and their partners to get together to reflect on and celebrate another very successful year at Sailability Shorncliffe.

Thank you to all volunteers and their supporters for all your efforts during the year, especially that of the those on the committee and in leadership positions.

It was a lovely festive lunch held at The Sands who are also great supporters of Sailability Shorncliffe.

Merry Christmas to all.

LAST SAIL DAY 2024 and CHRISTMAS PARTY    9th December 2024

A prefect day of sailing, song and celebrations. Thank you to all volunteers, clients, carers and special guests - Bracken Ridge Uniting Church Choir singing Christmas carols and Santa Claus visiting with Rudolph on the Safety Boat. Merry Christmas and look forward to sailing with you next year.

FIRST AID and CPR COURSE    4th December 2024

Congratulations and thank you to the volunteers who undertook the SLSQ First Aid and CPR Course to support and keep safe Sailability Shorncliffe operations.

CORPORATE SUPPORTERS DAY    26th November 2024

What a great success this day was. About 20 supporters attended our inaugural corporate supporters day along with 23 volunteers who enabled the day to operate smoothly. Guest speaker was Carolyn Vincent from the Ubuntu Foundation followed by the handover of safety and personal protection sailing equipment funded by Energex. Our President Peter Tyrrell spoke about the dedicated volunteer group and thanked the generosity of all supporters. Off to our shed for a quick tour then the sailing and pontoon rides began. This was the highlight of the day as it gave our supporters the same experience that our  clients have each Monday. They all had a great day and committed to support us in future years.

TRAINING DAY   16th September 2024

A very successful training day. Review of current procedures and equipment, including some fabulous demonstrations by our volunteers.

From here some procedures will be updated and additional ones developed to be uploaded to our website for all to view.

A few maintenance issues were addressed, we met our new Treasurer, Carol Conlon and her lovely family and finished up the day with pizza.
Thanks to all those who came and gave their time.

VOLUNTEER LUNCHEON / EXCURSION    8th August 2024

Thank you to the Ubuntu Foundation for funding our 21 volunteers who enjoyed a ride on the City Cat from the Northshore Hamilton to Howard Smith Wharf.

Some volunteers brought their partners who paid their own way, so a total of 27 enjoyed a pleasant meal at the Felons Brewing Company restaurant, which is situated under the iconic Story Bridge.
Thank you to Peter Tyrrell for organising the day which was enjoyed by all who attended.

WORKING BEE    1st July 2024

Our working bee in the shed was a great success. With the addition of the new tractor it was a great opportunity clean up, reconfigure and improve our shed facility. We moved some of the cupboards and the fridge;  rebuilt and improved the workbench and tool boards; marked on the floor where to park the boats and of coarse gave it a spit and polish. Now with all the boats in the shed you can move all around the shed and it looks great.
Thanks to all those who came and gave their time.

OUR NEW TRACTOR NAMING DAY    4th June 2024

A lovely sunny winters day that was a great occasion in which to showcase our operations with 46 special guests. Peter Mulchay was the MC for day with words from Geoff Grace (Sailability Qld President), David Hamilton (QCYC Commodore), Stirling Hinchliffe (MP) and Peter Tyrrell (Sailability Shorncliffe President). It was Nancy Garden and Peter Carole who revealed the tractor number plates 4GARDENS, acknowledging the enormous contribution the Gardens have made over the last 17 years as volunteers with Sailability Shorncliffe. With the official start of the tractor the ceremony was concluded and all were able to enjoy lunch and a few rides on the Pontoon boat.
